Album Review:“Make Or Break Me” by Kyle Park
HUNTSVILLE —
One of the best parts of being back in Texas is the opportunity to get reacquainted with country music. And I do love me some rockin’ country, the kind of toe-tapping, boot scootin’, steel-guitar-having kind of country like Kyle Park strums and sings on his newly released album “Make Or Break Me.”
He just released his third album, “Make Or Break Me” which features 15 songs: 6 new and 4 from his spring 2010 EP and 5 from his fall 2010 EP which have been remixed and remastered.
The talented Park not only sings lead vocals but plays guitar – acoustic or electric – on every track on the album. Park’s strong vocals are backed by full songs filled with guitar, fiddle and steel guitar. He wrote or co-wrote all the songs which have strong melodies and catchy hooks. Repeatedly I found myself tapping my toes along to several songs on this album.
The title track “Make or Break Me” is one of my favorites. This radio-friendly song should be a chart topper with its rocking tribute to being in love.
“Prove It To You” is another fun song which kept my toes tapping.
“Leavin Stephanville” has an upbeat, two-step rhythm with the perfect mix of steel guitar and fiddle that would be perfect to dance to – or cruise around singing along at the top of your lungs.
“I Love Her for a Million Reasons” has more of a rock feel to it. With clean vocals and strong lead guitar this song is another of my favorites.
“All Night” is a lovely song about how to get over a broken heart with a catchy hook; which I find addictive.
“Any Day or Night” is a waltzy-ballad where park croons about wanting to get back together with a lost love.
This album is chock full of great Texas twang and sweet ballads that lovers of rockin’ country will enjoy.
Park has performed with or opened for Clint Black, Tracy Lawrence, Mark Chestnutt, Gary Allan, Jack Ingram, Randy Rogers Band and Eli Young Band. He and his band keep busy playin more than 175 shows a year in clubs, at festivals and rodeos, and dancehalls. In fact, they played at Shenanigan's on September 21 and can usually be found playing somewhere in Texas at least once a week.
Park also produced the album on his record label, Kyle Park Music Inc. With its topnotch production this album is a treat to listen to from start to finish. Find more information about this up-and-coming Texas artist at his website www.kylepark.com.
