Food Fight - Pie
HUNTSVILLE —
Daisy’s Diner
AP: Buttermilk: I had never had a buttermilk pie before this and it was awesome! It had a light cinnamon taste, with a lightly browned top layer. This pie slice was the perfect amount of sweetness. It would have been excellent with coffee.
Coconut Cream Pie: Coconut is one of my favorite pies. This one had a brilliant crust that was sweet, and each bite was filled with savory chunks of coconut.
Chocolate Meringue Pie: This thick chocolate pie melts in your mouth. It is rich and decadent for all you chocolate lovers!
KS: Buttermilk: Wow. Buttermilk Pie doesn't typically stand out as one of my favorites, that is, with the exception of the Buttermilk Pie at Daisy's Diner! This Buttermilk was my favorite of all the pies. Fantastic consistency, a wonderful crust that will strike any self-proclaimed pie enthusiast with awe, and a crisp crunchy top that will fill your heart with glee.
Chocolate Meringue: This one didn't really stick with me. Although the flavor was good, I wasn’t a huge fan of the almost gelatin-like filling. The crust was shockingly salty, and twangy which was a great surprise to me and a nice counter-balance to the filling, but I wasn't completely sold that it was intentional.
Coconut Cream: Most people either LOVE coconut or they HATE Coconut. I happen to be a Coconut lover, so this pie should have been a shoe-in for pie-of-the-day. Although the crust and the pie flavor was phenomenal, It wasn't quite the consistency that I'm use to with a Coconut Cream Pie. Also, a good fluffy, yet solid meringue is hard to accomplish and this meringue missed the mark.

AP: Chocolate Ice Box: This pie was light and fluffy. The chocolate was not thick but like whipped cream in your mouth. This was the best chocolate pie I have ever had!
Pecan Pie: This slice was filled with sweet pecans, my favorite!
Coconut Cream Pie: This coconut cream pie was much different than Daisy’s diner’s. It was extra sweet with a marshmallow topping. The vanilla taste was smooth and delicious.
KS: Chocolate: Although I'm not diggin' the grainy crust, I totally get why it's needed in order to reflect the lite, fluffy, and creamy nature of this pie. Good pie, probably not the one I would order if other options were on the table, but I suppose it's worth a try.
Pecan: Lord have mercy. This Pecan Pie was everything you would ever want in a Pecan pie. Every bite feels like a new blast of flavor. I wasn't feeling the crust, but that's really the only bad thing I have to say about this scrumptious treat.
Coconut Cream: It shouldn't be any surprise that Coconut Cream would rank highly for me. Coconut Cream is my absolute favorite. Beware that this particular Coconut Cream is very rich, which could be rough for someone that isn't looking or a sugar shock. Hit the nail on the head with this one; it is full, bold, and delectable.
